Who doesn't love waking up to their breakfast already being ready to go? I'll tell you what, I definitely do. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but let's be honest.. it is also the most difficult. It is just kind of a nuisance, am I right? There is nothing worse than waking up starving, late, and unable to eat anything with substance that will last you more than 30 minutes. Good thing I have the perfect solution for you!
Making your breakfast the night before is the best way to give yourself a chance at eating something healthy and not full of sugar, additives, and other yucky things that don't keep you satisfied for very long. Even though I love a good breakfast pastry, I usually feel pretty sleeping about 20 minutes after eating it, and am starving again an hour later. If you make something like these delicious overnight oats, they are ready to go in the morning, and they are full of whole ingredients that will provide you with more nutrients and more energy to get you through the morning. So - let's dive in!
Making overnight oats is so simple and quick - you are going to love it. To start off, you are going to need some kind of storage container that will keep any air out - I love to use mason jars. For the oats you will need - 1/2 cup of quick oats, 1 cup of milk, almond milk, or oat milk, 1 scoop of protein powder (optional), 1/2 cup of Greek yogurt, your favorite granola, chocolate chips (also optional), and your favorite fruit! Guys - you can literally make this your very own. Use anything you like! The more you like it, the more likely you are to eat it. Oh yeah.. so I guess you need to know how to make it don't you?
Start off with putting your oats in a bowl and adding whichever liquid you are choosing to use. Then add your protein powder - if you so choose (vanilla works great here). Mix these ingredients until combined! Pour half of your oat mixture into your container. Then top with about a 1/4 cup of Greek yogurt. On top of that, you are going to sprinkle your granola, and layer whatever fruit you are choosing to use! My go-to fruit for these are thin sliced apples, blueberries, and strawberries, but like I said - you can use anything you want! Okay - so we've added the granola, now layer your apples and blueberries. Once you've done that, add the rest of your oat mixture. Top with the rest of your Greek yogurt, apple slices, MORE granola (because who doesn't love a good granola), and your strawberries! Then last but not least - sprinkle those chocolate chips across the top.
Y'all, you can't go wrong with these oats. They are so versatile and easy to grab on the go. My husband especially loves these because he can grab them on his way out the door at 4 in the morning - yes 4am.. gross. But, if you are an early riser, or just a normal on the goer, these are for you. Don't miss out, you gotta try these. YUM.
Enjoy!
